Planning
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) funds the Regional Transportation Program which serves local agencies and MDOT by providing a variety of information and analysis needed for transportation planning.
The CUPPAD Work Program
The regional commission is contracted by MDOT to provide the following services for transportation planning in the central Upper Peninsula:
- coordinate public involvement in the Regional Transportation Program
- provide technical assistance to both MDOT and local agencies
- participate in the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) by performing traffic counts and collecting roadway information
- particpate in the Asset Management Program
