RRC Hands-on Training Opportunity

June 11, 2019

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is hosting a hands-on training for Redevelopment Ready Certified communities in the region. It will be held in Negaunee on October 9th, from 9am – 3pm. This is a free event with breakfast and lunch provided. Registration needs to be completed BEFORE June 30th. To register, please email Christopher Germain at germainc2@michigan.org with your name, title, and email addresses of all attendees. It is encouraged to bring 2-4 members of your community as RRC is a collaborative effort.

Communities who attend the workshop will leave with tangible items to address several RRC best practices including:

  • A first pass at documenting your internal review process to meet best practice 3.1
  • A draft outline of what to include in your community’s guide to development (best practice 3.2); the focus here will be on creating a guide that is user-friendly to remove knowledge barriers that may stop first-time, local investors from engaging in the process;
  • A draft training strategy for your boards which doesn’t require a ton of funding or travel (best practice 4.2)
  • A draft outline of an RRC-aligned marketing strategy for your community to meet best practice 5.2 (6.2 for some of you who are already evaluated)

If you have any questions, please contact Christopher at germainc2@michigan.org
